Advance Mitigation Program: City of Kirkland

Facet developed an advance wetland and stream buffer mitigation strategy to improve efficiency of design and permitting for City of Kirkland projects. This approach is superior to the traditional design where each impact has a stand-alone mitigation effort that is designed, permitted, constructed, maintained and monitored on a project-by-project basis. Facet then provided mitigation designs, construction documents and oversaw construction of the advance mitigation project. Project elements include the development of multiple mitigation plan documents that effectively and efficiently increase native plant cover and habitat diversity in existing natural areas threatened by invasive vegetation cover. Challenges included limited access and minimizing site disturbance to preserve existing natural features.
