Ancich Waterfront Park: City of Gig Harbor
Facet provided all-inclusive environmental review and permitting services to the City of Gig Harbor for the development of Ancich Waterfront Park. Design included stabilizing shoreline with new vegetative slope protection, a concrete bulkhead with shoreline access, re-grading and hardscaping two wetlands, and the replacement of two piers, one of which held a highly degraded historic netshed. Facet staff authored the cost-benefit analysis for the Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, soil characterization report per the Department of Ecology’s guidance, Biological Evaluation Addendum, Critical Areas Report Addendum, and Geotechnical Report Addendum. Field work included soil sampling and hydroacoustic monitoring during pile driving.
Facet staff also coordinated the development of the initial biological evaluation, marine mammal monitoring plan, macrovegetation survey, and cultural resource assessment. Permitting efforts included two Army Corps Nationwide Permits, an Army Corps Letter of Permission, Work Window Extension, HPA with multiple modifications, Department of Ecology Water Quality Certification, a DNR lease for the City’s future expansions, and multiple City of Gig Harbor approvals including but not limited to, an Alternative Landscape Plan, Building/Demo Permit, multiple rounds of Design Review, Floodplain Development, SEPA, Shoreline Conditional Use Permit, Shoreline Substantial Development Permit, and a Shoreline Variance.
