Lower Duwamish Wetland and Salmon Habitat Restoration

Facet worked with the Port to restore wetlands and shoreline habitat in the Lower Duwamish Waterway, evaluating five potential sites based on suitability and ecological benefits.y. We evaluated five alternative restoration sites based on site suitability and projected habitat value. We used the Habitat Equivalency Analysis for the Lower Duwamish and Elliot Bay to evaluate habitat value for rearing salmonids, a suite of estuarine fish species, and shorebirds. Working with the Port, we developed a conceptual restoration design that will restore diverse tidal habitat functions. Facet prepared permit documents and coordinated with agency representatives to facilitate implementation of this tidal restoration project. As part of the permitting process, we developed site-specific monitoring standards and a long-term stewardship plan.
